Art director and fashion photographer Virginie Harnois has always combined travel and photography. Her subjects, though they may appear almost trivial, reveal a subtle play between reality and decor, photography and painting, challenging our own perception of reality. Her photographs convey a sense of balance, the idea that the world goes round effortlessly, like so many freeze-frames bathed in a light she characteristically intensifies by overexposure.

 

Virginie Harnois’s photographs of Brazilian beaches are life scenes rendered with sympathetic simplicity, dissolved in light, where each character has their own distinctive movement, though all seem frozen in time in a harmonious, static and solar display.
